Funding for Motor Vehicle Youth Club: -Weekly sessions delivered from 18:00-20:00, from JAMES community garage, TFD centre, Broadstone Way, Holmewood -10 young people per session -Young people will self-determine sessions; i.e. choosing to look at breaking systems or re-building a go-kart engine -Experienced/ trained staff Young people engaged, will: -develop hands-on learning, building key-skills -have vocational experience & challenge - learn issue-based content; embedded into the motor vehicle session; from substance misuse to healthy relationships -Build confidence & self-esteem -Develop positive relationships with peers and staff -Raise aspirations -Other support service referral
JAMES originated in Holmewood, in 1984 as a response to motor vehicle issues Specialises in personalised programmes, achieving lasting, meaningful outcomes JAMES supported 962 individuals; over 55% identified as female & over 65% were aged 24 or below (2022). Mission; "To provide an effective, caring & understanding environment where young people & families can overcome disadvantage & lack of provision to achieve their full potential in life." We’ve 4 sites, including; garages & marine division JAMES is an Ofsted regulated Independent School “They are relentless in their pursuit of the best outcomes in achievement and personal development for the pupils in their care.” (Good, 2019)
