The Pitch

Problem statement

Rugby can involve a lot of mud, especially during the winter months! This means that our volunteers are constantly trying to keep our clubs changing room areas clean and safe. We have training most weekdays and then games taking place most Saturdays and Sundays which means there is alot of traffic. If all 3 senior teams are at home on a Saturday afternoon, this can mean approximately 120 players passing through the area. This is alot of cleaning to ensure the club is then suitable for upto 150 kids on a Sunday morning who have have lots of fun but who's boots are always caked in mud! Cleaning process starts again, and continues throughout the week.

Solution

By installing a fixed angled boot wiper at both entrances to the changing room corridor, players can easily wipe their boots prior to entering this building. This will significantly reduce the amount of mud going into the building. By keeping the majority of the mud outside, the risk of slipping and injury is reduced and the amount of cleaning required is also reduced. The mud will concentrated in the area around the boot wiper, therefore quicker and easier for volunteers/players to clear up. The product we have identified is the Harrod Sport Fixed Angled Boot Wiper which can be used by 3 people at one time.

Why are we best placed to deliver?

Vipers is run by volunteers who give up their time week in week out. If there are ways we can help or reduce the workload, then we try to do so. There are always other jobs to be done in a busy club. If we are able to secure funding to purchase the boot wipers, we have a number of skilled tradespeople within the club who will ensure the boot wipers are installed at 0 cost.
