Dawlish Women Walking Football Club is made up of women from Teignmouth and Dawlish, ranging in age from mid 40s to early 70s (around 20 people currently). All of us are new to the sport. After the years of restrictions, it has given us the chance to exercise and meet new people in a safe friendly environment. We all acknowledge how fantastic this experience is for our physical and mental health; ‘a new lease of life’, ‘a real focus again’ and ‘Something to look forward to’.The pitch we play on has no cover so us and all our kit are exposed to the elements, whether it be torrential rain or sweltering sunshine.
We would like to purchase an easy to erect, lightweight gazebo that we can use to store our kit in when we are playing.i.e bags coats and equipment, and also use as shelter between games or for those not playing. This will help greatly and be a tremendous addition for us.
Dawlish Women Walking Football is a newly formed group of women from varying backgrounds. One of our members with coaching experience is teaching the technical aspects of football.Other members have proved invaluable with their social media expertise for publicising our activities. We have a committee made up of driven and focused women determined to ensure the progress of the team is maintained. We have entered several tournaments, hosted a Welsh ladies touring team and featured in a local TV news item relating to the growth of the sport. In October we entered 2 teams into a Devon FA tournament and were runners up in the Plate final. This item will greatly enhance our footballing experience.

The award of this grant will greatly enhance our training and matchday experience. Our kit and equipment will be kept dry and we will have shelter from the elements when not playing on the pitch.
We have recently been awarded funding to enable us to purchase footballs and mini nets. This has given us much more flexibility with our training methods.Players are be able to practice their individual skills and team work during small games. This has had the result of making training more fun and help us improve.
