Expected impact

The funding would enable us to support 694 people going through cancer treatment at Kettering General Hospital. We provide 180 packs per month to the hospital, so this would fund 3 full months and part of month 4. We know we will be directly supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of a person going through cancer treatment. However, it extends beyond the direct benefit to the patients. We are also helping family members who are extremely worried about not being able to get items to their family member and are worried that about not being able to get items to their family member and are worried that they don't have what they need. Providing this removes this worry for them. The pack will also support the hospital itself, who are not in a position to provide these type of items. Staff have informed us, it not only helps the patient but it also helps them in doing their job.It provides a source of comfort to a patient so they don't feel isolated and disconnected.

Track record

The best way to highlight the impact is as a result of feedback from the people we support. Patient Feedback “I am nearly 86 years old and I am suffering with inoperable pancreatic cancer. Last year I was in the Talbot Butler Ward when I received one of your gift parcels. It brought tears to my eyes to think that someone apart from my family cared. When I was in the emergency department this year, I was given an isolation pack. Filled with the most useful thing and greatly received. It really does lift your spirits. Thank you once again for bringing a ray of sunshine to those that are suffering.” Family member feedback “My dad had to undergo his chemo treatment alone today but luckily the gift bag he received from The Lewis Foundation included puzzle books. Thank you so much for giving him much-needed distraction.
