The Pitch
Problem statement
TASC swimming club has over 40 new members who have never experienced competitive swimming due to covid restrictions and lockdown. Many of the younger swimmers have suffered hugely from the pools being shut for so long and have missed out on opportunities to swim and learn how to race. We are looking to provide a first experience for these members as an introduction to competition and to motivate them to take part in the sport further.
Solution
TASC swimming club would like to organise an inclusive gala for all club members to take part in. For many this will be their first opportunity to try competitive swimming and it will hopefully inspire them to continue with the sport and improve self esteem and mental health, aswell as physical fitness. The funding would be spent on the pool hire fees for two days of racing, and medals for all competitors.
Why are we best placed to deliver?
TASC has been operating as a swimming club since 1981 and has in the past run a number of successful swimming galas. The extra pressure due to increasing pool hire fees and restrictions due to lockdown are making this more challenging. However with some financial help, the club committee has the experience and expertise to host another successful gala. All the committee and coaches at tasc give their time for free and are fully committed to developing the club further with more opportunities for all members.

Expected impact
A first experience for all new members. An increase in self esteem and sense of personal achievement. Hopefully inspiring swimmers to continue to develop and enjoy racing, as well encouraging physical fitness and healthy relationships. There will also be the social benefits of an event for all the club, with new friendship being forged, and wider community encouraged to take up swimming.
