The Pitch

Problem statement

Love North Southwark is a community-based organisation that sprang up in response to the hardship created by the Coronovirus Pandemic in 2020. Our mission is to bring food security to those in need in Southwark. We started off by providing meals and food parcels to the elderly and shielding. Back in April 2020 In the last year This has now extended to anyone who is struggling to get by, including young families, victims of domestic violence mental health issues and those living in sheltered accommodation.

Solution

More donations In 2021, we started a Food Pantry on a Tuesday Thursday Friday morning out of Cherry garden hall in Bermondsey. The pantry aims to remove stigma from food poverty and restore dignity to those who need a little help to get by. Also encouraging people to start getting back into the community spirit and getting they confidents back we also save on food waste We have served since opening 895 people in our community this is growing every week Along side this we give 120-30 food parcels to the elderly and Vulnerable people every other week

Why are we best placed to deliver?

We have over two years support our community have had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people which not only has been  helping them with food Security but allowing them to get back in to the community after a long lockdown some had lost they confidence and some had moved into the area just before or in lockdown to escape the lifestyle they was in which we have help by giving them help with and bringing them into our community We also run a toy drive at Christmas for family’s who was finding this time of year hard we applied for new toys to be donated to the children of Bermondsey and surrounding areas this was very successful with Bermondsey people pull together we had over 200 toys
