The Pitch

Problem statement

The motivation behind our project is to provide free top level coaching to all adults, whether that be 18 year olds new to the game or 40+ and returning. Were hoping this will give the much needed boost to the grassroots game that's needed and increase player participation locally. A recent survey suggested a fall from 259,600 active adult players in England in 2016 to just 95,100 at the end of last season. If each club can do there bit to help hopefully we can pick these numbers up one player at a time.

Solution

The overall goal of the project is to get our volunteers RFU coach qualified and provide all the equipment needed for them to run the training sessions. The funding if given will be spent on getting our young coaches qualified which will provide them with the skills to deliver enjoyable beneficial sessions. we will also use funding to invest in all the correct equipment for these sessions to thrive, i.e balls, cones, shields, bibs etc

Why are we best placed to deliver?

I believe one of the key reasons our club can make this successful is through our ability to accept and accommodate any player of any ability. Our current members/players welcome anyone onboard and make them feel included, almost part of the Manor Park family. Also we have 2 teams currently welcome for all newcomers to get a game and our target this season, through increased player participation, is to hopefully get an occasional third team out.

Expected impact

We currently have have 95 registered players with the RFU, but I expect the project to attract more players to start or be reintroduced into grassroots rugby. I believe the changes implemented will succeed in doing this as players will see the quality of coaching being offered on a voluntary basis for any adult in the local community and also the equipment on offer to use. We hope to get more and more adults back into physical activity and leaving the club with a smile on there face with the intention to return the following week.
