We are a community based cricket team, comprised of all ages and abilities and have spent this whole year raising funds for our designated charity, Maggies Cancer Centre, Swansea. My own (84 year old) mother has recently undergone cancer treatment, for which Maggies have been invaluable. We have a charity match on the 21st August and are continuing to raise funds for this fantastic charity. Maggies lost overr £300k of funding during the pandemic, however continued to provide an amazing service to the patients and loved ones of those affected. Any funding would go towards equipment and clothing for our team which would be emblazoned with the Maggies Logo, furthering the awareness of Maggies
The funding would you used on equipment for the team, team clothing with the Maggies Logo on and publicity for our events. We would also be able to provide equipment and advertising to use at the cricket ground, which is used by a large number of members of the community, for various sports and leisure activities and would promote the name of the charity, raise awareness of the incredible work that they do and build support for them. We are going to continue to raise funding for Maggies, with events throughout the year. This year alone we have raised over £5000, with still two weeks to go before our first event.
This is our second charity event. last year we raised just under £7000 for Ty Hafan, however, due to the fact that cancer affects everyone of us, we have decided that Maggies, will be our designated charity going forward. I am experienced in charity work and am looking forward to driv8ng forward our affiliation with Maggies and building relationships with the community.

The equipment provided will be utilised by all clubs in the area that call Murton Green, home, even for training during the off season. The impact that funding, publicity and branding of Maggies will have on the South Wales area is immeasurable. They currently support thousands across the area and every penny raised is vital to their continued support of the families of South Wales. Our commitment to bringing grass roots cricket to the community, with the long term goal of providing ongoing funding to Maggies will benefit thousands. Every youngster that has been affected by cancer, can, through Maggies have access to community cricket, across the area that has already seen players aged 19 to 80 take the field this year and compete in an incredible, friendly community cricket project,
As stated, last year was our first attempt at a cricket related charity event, which raised almost £7000. This year we hope to be bigger and better, whilst encouraging more people to play cricket and raise the awareness of Maggies.
