Expected impact

Mental and physical well being of young children. Leadership skills. Photography skills. Skateboarding skills. Team work. We will use our course booklet template to measure the progress of the young people. Each week they will complete a description of learning, self-reflection (what went well, what to improve on) and set targets for the next lesson. The addition of the course booklet will help young people to set themselves goals. We hope the project will help to create a safe and diverse space within the Brent Cross area which will drive out anti-social behaviour and keep the area free from gang crime. Young people will have access to physical activity as well as art based workshops and hopefully be inspired by our team of role models. We hope to reach some of the new refugee community and help those children unite with others in the community through skateboarding. We have already had some of our social assets translated into Ukrainian ready to promote.

Track record

We would be happy to share our monitoring and evaluation from our 2020 girls only project that was funded by Skateistan and Women Win. It is a 2 minute video which shares stories from the girls who took part. Please get in contact if you would like to see this. It follows Jess who was new to the area and keen to make new friends and a young girl who lives with her grandmother who talks about how the skateboarding project helped her reconnect with her mother who lives in Scotland.
