The Pitch

Problem statement

We are trying to develop an adult section of the triathlon club to attract members form across Essex. There are numerous costs involved in setting up (equipment such as turbo trainiers)and maintaining a triathlon club (training hall and swimming pool rental). The problem we have is keeping membership fees low to be accessible to all with these outlays whilst the club is growing and developing.

Solution

This fund will enable us to keep membership fees at a minimum to allow the club to be as inclusive as possible without financial barriers to attract new members. Triathon is a fantastic way to improve fitness regardless of ability, meet new people and be part of a team. The training sessions are a great way to develop mentally and physically.

Why are we best placed to deliver?

The club is based in Chelmsford in the heard of Essex and easily accessible to a large population. The club is run by an enthusiastic committee made up of volunteers who have a proven track record running a junior trialthlon section. The club is recognised by the British Triathlon Federation and all coaches are trained to their standards and the club meets all welfare requirements..

Expected impact

The impact of this grant will allow us to minimise membership fees to allow us to attract more people to the club. We feel once the numbers start to grow and word spreads more people will join the club but we need to make it as affordable as possible. By purchasing turbo trainers it will allow those without specialist equipment to join the club and join in with training without a large personal expense which may be out of reach for some people.

The committee have experience and success running the Chelmsford Triathlon Club Discovery section so know what is required to build and develop a club.
