The club has tried to develop a Ladies section twice over the last two years as we've seen an increase of Females wishing to take part in cricket activity. The club has tried to deliver coaching sessions but availability of ground space or hall time and quality coaching has made practices a struggle. The club has 20 ladies wanting cricket training to increase sporty opportunities, social experiences, activities open to all and to promote health and well being to our local community, this will then lead on to playing in local competitions. At present the team travel 30 miles each week to practice with another club.
The club has identified a Sunday afternoon for the ladies team to come together for some indoor practice sessions and going into the summer the ladies will practice in their own time slot at the club on a Wednesday evening. We need funding to cover indoor facility hire, coaching costs and practice equipment. As the team improves we will look to host cricket fixtures against other ladies cricket teams from around the region.
The pandemic hasn't helped in setting up this ladies section at the club and getting consistency to develop a new activity when competing against time commitments for men's & junior cricket has been a hard task. The club has seen the commitment from the ladies travelling 30 miles each week to a more established club and has now fort for equal practice time for the ladies section. We are sure when others see the success of our social fun ladies cricket sessions numbers will double and we will be able to play alongside other teams in local tournaments. We also wish to run our own tournaments and cricket fun days at the club.

The short term impact will be 20 females taking part in regular physical activity, this will develop into more females getting involved in playing sport, coaching and officiating games. The long term impact will be more opportunities for females to play cricket and to develop sessions to be sustainable.
Female juniors at the club play in mixed gender teams, when they finish playing junior cricket we have no opportunities to continue playing a sport that they love. This new group will create a clear pathway to keep females enjoy cricket and will increase spectator numbers.
