The Pitch

Problem statement

The men have been using the same water polo hats for a number of years (at least 10). They are now damaged, frayed and tired, and bear the name of the club before it was subsumed into City of Bristol Aquatics. The hats fulfil two purposes, the most important is to protect the players ear drums from damage should a ball impact, secondly it is the means by which players can be identified.

Solution

We would like to purchase new hats for the Men that better reflect the club. The hats would be smart, free of damage, and bear the correct name of the club. Two complete sets are required, a 'white' set for home games and coloured set (normally blue) for the away games. It is possible for the hats to be used by all the men's teams as they rarely compete at the same events as they are of different playing standards and so enter different leagues and competitions.

Why are we best placed to deliver?

The City of Bristol - Water polo section is best placed to procure these hats as we have coaches with a combined playing experience of 180 years, at local, national and international level. We understand the importance of the hats and the requirements that they need to meet

Budget breakdown

Provision of a set of water polo hats, home and away, for the senior men's teams.£425

Expected impact

The main impact will be ensuring the continued well being of the players by provision of adequate ear protection. The secondary benefit will be the sense of pride the teams will have wearing caps with the club logo, and not the logo of a club for which they have little or no attachment.
