The Pitch

Problem statement

Foundation 92, working in partnership with young people (14-18) and families who reside in Pendleton, have identified a number of stark inequalities and disadvantages, that families and young people who access Foundation 92’s wider community support provision are facing. Despite being within touching distance of Manchester city centre, and the employment opportunities this area brings, many individuals who access Foundation 92’s services, state they do not have the confidence and skillset to attempt to access these opportunities. Families and young people also stated that this lack of opportunity and aspiration had significantly, negatively impacted their mental and physical wellbeing.

Solution

Foundation 92’s Team of Mentors will deliver a blended skill improvement, health improvement and environmental engagement programme, based at Sutton Community Centre, which consists of meeting space, learning spaces and a recently opened environmental garden. Working with some of Salford’s most disadvantaged young people and families, Foundation 92’s mentors will deliver a free to access, young person and family, drop in service. Based in the heart of Pendleton, this service will deliver a range of interactive and engaging developmental workshops covering; How to improve mental/physical health. Raising aspiration/Self-Worth. Benefits of engaging in the environment. 100 people will benefit.
