The Pitch

Problem statement

To make american football accessible to all we provide players with the necessary equipment for them to play the sport safely. This includes the helmets and shoulder pads required for safety of the players. As we have grown the demand on our resources has grown and as we now have regularly over 40 players we need to purchase new equipment to add to our stocks and replace the helmets which are becoming end of life. Helmets can only be used for 10 years safely and some of helmets are coming up to 8 years old this year and we need to start looking to replace them.

Solution

The goal of the project is to purchase 20 x new helmets (RRP £150). With this purchase we would be able to replace some of our ageing equipment and allow for us to safely have all of our players fully kitted for all training and game sessions. The additional kit will also add to our current stocks so we can have bigger recruitments sessions where we can involve more people safely in the sport and grow participation in our area which competes strongly with other sports.

Why are we best placed to deliver?

As the only senior adult team in the area we are expertly placed to deliver this project and allow the sport to grow successfully encouraging more people to be involved in sports and become active.

Expected impact

Increase participation in the sport for all individuals, we will be able to run full recruitment sessions to include as many individuals as possible. As we work in a deprived area participation in this sport can be hampered by the associated costs. By been able to provide equipment to players to use during sessions and the season we are able to attract people to the sport from all parts of society and from deprived communities.
