Few years ago we faced a significant challenge when our lease on our current clubhouse within Murrayfield Stadium, was not renewed. Consequently, we had to relocate and access to the pitches at Murrayfield was no longer possible. In response, the rugby club shifted operations around the corner to utilise the Roseburn pitches, currently shared with the cricket club & Caledonian Thebans rugby club. While we initially acquired floodlights, regrettably, they are now mostly in disrepair, illuminating only a fraction of a pitch and falling short of meeting our needs. This situation has led to a decline in attendance at training with the inability to adequately light up the pitches.
Acknowledging the effect on our club, we are enthusiastic about allocating funds for quality floodlights. Given the dwindling attendance during training sessions, procuring fully functional floodlights is poised to have a positive impact by significantly boosting participation numbers. Additionally, as we aim to revive our women's senior team this summer, the installation of adequate floodlights will serve as an enticing factor, attracting a broader pool of players to join the rugby club.
With a history of facility enhancements, including our successful relocation to Roseburn pitches, we showcase resilience and resourcefulness. Murrayfield Wanderers is known for community engagement and collaboration, actively involving members, supporters, and local businesses. The floodlight project aligns with our dedication to player development, enhancing training sessions and player performance. Murrayfield Wanderers is confident in our commitment, expertise, and track record as a reliable partner for this endeavor.
