The need is to increase employability for women in the Camden and Islington district within the Central District Alliance business improvement district. Dress for Success Greater London will achieve this by providing its core services of Pre employment training, skills development, increased self esteem and free professional grooming and wardrobe.We assist over 1000 women each year and have an 80% success rate of women we assist gaining and retaining employment. We are a partner of CDA working with business, referral agencies and the local colleges to host career development and employability days, delivering master classes including confidence building, digital technology and confidence
Dress for Success solution to overcome the barriers of women returning to the workplace are to work and partner with the job centres and support organisations in the CDA / Camden and Islington footprint. We will achieve this by delivering our core services outlined above and support women from the area. It takes £150 to support and include a woman in our core services and ongoing support. The amount needed to support 20 women is £3000. This will include all participants in a career development day, interview skills, digital technology training, free styling , interview clothes and professional wardrobe. Dress for success has been in existence for over 20 years. The Greater London branch has assisted over 10,000 women over the past 9 years with an 80% success rate in women we help gaining employment. This has a significant impact with savings to the public purse, reinvesting into the London economy, better role models within the family and community. We work with DWP as a service provider adding value to their services together with support organisations. community and corporates to ensure we deliver the best service possible. Our clients come from all diverse backgrounds such as victims of abuse, refugees, single mums, long term unemployed and marginalised minorities.

Dress for Success Greater London’s overall impact is the increased employability and self confidence of the women we assist. The impact on the public purse is a staggering £6 million per year in savings through women coming off basic job seekers / welfare support. The impact on the economy in increased investment and contribution to their local community as women are shown to contribute more into the economy if financial independence and success is achieved. The impact on the individual is through increased confidence, upskilling, employability with a knock on affect to her family with assisting in lifting her children from poverty and becoming better role models in society. We measure our outcomes with the amount of women we help each year gaining employment and retaining employment after our intervention.
