The Pitch

Problem statement

At Bristol Mind we are working hard to promote and build awareness of ways people can prevent mental health challenges. One of which is physical excercise and we created a campaign called A Million Steps for Better Mental Health. This campaign highlights the benefits of physical exercise and encourages people to take an important first step to be more active. Sometimes awareness isn’t enough. The Southwest has the highest rates of suicide in all English regions; recognising the significance of this, we want to engage as many people as possible to participate in A Million Steps for Better Mental Health.

Solution

Physical exercise is proven to improve one’s mental health & wellbeing so Bristol Mind are inviting people to take part in a 7-Day Step Challenge, where every step contributes to A Million Steps for Better Mental Health. A million steps may seem like an ambitious goal, but it represents the journey to better mental health, one step at a time. It’s an accessible challenge for anyone to take part with three different step targets to choose from. Beginner - 50,000, Intermediate 70,000 and challenging - 100,000. The funding will allow us to fund a member of staff for 4 months to be able to promote the campaign as well as provide valuable marketing funds to reach more people across Bristol

Why are we best placed to deliver?

Bristol Mind are a trusted local mental health charity and can provide a platform for people to begin their journeys to better mental health. We have key partnerships across the city and will be able to delivery an effective campaign to support the residents of Bristol to become more active and achieve better mental health and wellbeing.
