Expected impact

The workshops, run by two professional singers, with many years’ experience of working in community settings. are designed to help people, often with no experience of singing or acting, find their voices and build a positive attitude about themselves. The workshops, featuring fun musical activities as well as breathing exercises, will be for community members who suffer severe multiple disadvantage; those with experience of or at risk of homelessness and those with mental health issues or experiencing isolation. We know that the sessions enable participants to feel better about themselves, help them deal with their anxiety and have a generally positive affect on well-being. Previous feedback includes ‘It takes the pressure off my mind and takes my anxiety to a lower level. I wouldn’t know what do with myself if I couldn’t come here.' Another said ‘Ever since I’ve been coming to Grassroots; I’ve noticed I haven’t been breathing enough. I use the techniques in day-to day life.''
