The project will enable greater numbers of people, most adversely impacted by COVID-19, to lead more resilient, creative, and socially connected lives using horticulture, engaging with the natural world within an integrated community setting. Empowering people to impact positively on their environment, and themselves, to promote recovery and ongoing self-care; using shared common goals to better prepare for future challenges. This intervention combines community stewardship of underused open spaces whilst challenging stigma around mental ill-health by empowering our NHS referred adults to lead on the project in collaboration with the community: thereby challenging stigma through community participation in a joint beneficial endeavour. The site will provide a safe outdoor space for local people and families to enjoy and come together. Direct service engagement with 100 - 200 people per annum, visitors to the garden approx 2,000+ building year on year.
