The Pitch

Problem statement

We have a number of people who were effected by the last 18 months they became isolated and lonely lost there confidence within society, this project has give them a goal and as a club our aims and objectives is community engagement give those an opportunity to really prove themselves and the community to really engage with them this going forward will really give them a template to work on in different areas outside the project. We have 30 Volunteers in which we have 5 who have physical or mental disabilities in which we would like them to take the skills they have acquired and use them in a more positive way so that they can be comfortable with others.

Solution

The goal of the project is to mentor people to improve there communication and upgrade there skills we have introduced volunteer of the month where those who have improved there skill set and attended each week which is important it gives them discipline and structure. The money will be spent as follows mentoring in which each volunteer will have a number of certain tasks in which the volunteer coordinator will give an overview and assess , very important at the club that this objective and aim is maintained throughout the project and beyond. Materials will be purchased throughout the project so that ground preparation and facilities can upgraded on a regular basis.

Why are we best placed to deliver?

We have a number of mentors who have been at the club throughout gained many skills in which they can pass on to others so that the legacy can be taken forward. The football club is the middle of a large and close community in which everybody wants to help to make this project a success. We have a volunteer coordinator who understands the needs of everybody and the skills she has are excellent. We have help from external organisations who value the club and help with the volunteers and placements so that we have communication with them on a regular basis and visits are made to the club to guide us through.

The Volunteer Group has increased by 50% in the last 6 months the impact of the pandemic has brought people together especially in our community where we have a number of people who have been locked down and been isolated. We have individuals who have suffered and there stories can be shared socially within the group and our helped throughout . The project brings a happiness and a calmness for each individual.

Track record

During lockdown we applied for grants to help with the facilities, in which a container was purchased so that we could give a service to our community and our volunteers where a toilet block was installed for ladies and gentleman. We have had small grants to repair the facilities like electrical work ,plumbing ,floodlights . By using the money to improve the football club it gives a sense of achievement and others will comment on the work the volunteers are doing will continue to do so.
