Oxford Mutual Aid

Who we are

Description

Oxford Mutual Aid (OMA) delivers regular food and emergency parcels to people experiencing food poverty in Oxford. We also deliver re-heatable meals cooked by volunteer chefs to older people living alone or with dementia, and to people without access to cooking facilities. Set up by a diverse group of Oxford residents at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic who were united by a commitment to tackle food insecurity, OMA now delivers over 300 regular food parcels each week; over 50 emergency food parcels each week, and we deliver 600 re-heatable meals each week. In total, we take food, essential items (including baby supplies) and meals to over 600 households every week - over 2,000 people. All of OMA's deliveries are made free of cost to recipients. OMA is volunteer-led, currently with 300 regular volunteers supported by two coordinators who manage an ever-increasing number of referrals for support, and who match volunteers to donations and deliveries.
