Misgav

Who we are

Description

Misgav, since 2006, serves learning disabled women age 18+ from minoritized and economically deprived households in Hackney and neighbouring boroughs, London. Our mission is to help disabled women reach maximum independence and narrow the gap of social disparity faced by them. Misgav’s charitable objectives are to provide skills learning and education as well as leisure, the secondary objective is to support carers. We serve women with severe learning and physical disabilities (Down’s syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, global development delay, restricted mobility) from Hackney and neighbouring boroughs. We deliver pa: 200+ sports, 140 art and 172 life skills sessions and an employment programme with accredited IT courses which addresses great inequality faced by this group in entering employment (only 6% of learning disabled adults in employment in the UK [NHS 2018] compare with 50% of our programme graduates with rest working towards job placements or volunteering).
