St Luke’s is making south Islington a better place to live, work, learn and play. Through our varied services, activities and community building we aim to improve the quality of life of those disadvantaged by poverty, poor health, social isolation and limited prospects. We are helping to build a sense of community for all. Our Community Centre on Central Street, London EC1 provides a base from which we deliver a wide range of services and activities, a place for local people to meet, outdoor spaces, and a resource for other organisations to deliver their services to the local community. The St Luke’s area of benefit is a densely populated inner-city neighbourhood in London comprising approximately 24,000 residents. The majority of residents live in social housing. The neighbourhood suffers significant deprivation typical of many inner cities, with child poverty, unemployment, premature death, poor health and isolation of older people.
