Farms for City Children

Who we are

Description

Who we are: Farms for City Children is an educational charity for children and young people aged 8–19 experiencing disadvantage and inequality. Since 1976, over 105,000 young people have taken part in our transformative residentials at our heritage farms in Devon, Pembrokeshire, and Gloucestershire. The Need: Almost a third of UK children live in poverty, with limited access to safe outdoor spaces and few opportunities for hands-on learning and personal growth. Nearly one in five never experience the natural environment, missing out on the emotional, social, and educational benefits that help them reach their full potential. Our Impact: Each week fosters connections with nature, nurtures wellbeing, builds skills and resilience, and helps young people develop positive life expectations. Through hands-on, nature-friendly, and regenerative farming practices, they also develop a lifelong sense of environmental stewardship.
