Poole Communites Trust

Who we are

Description

The overarching aim is to ‘support local communities by developing & sustaining high quality spaces for community activities & the delivery of social welfare services'. The Trust works in 3 areas. In Turlin Moor we run a project with volunteers to support the local community. Previously the focus has been on young people, but during the first lockdown access to food at reasonable prices was identified as a huge need & we have opened a community food store. Our second area of work is in Branksome, where we run the Branksome Community Centre. Currently between 600 – 800 people per week participate in a wide range of activities. Our third area of work is in Bourne, an area in the 10% most deprived in England. We have raised over £2m to build a Community Hub and construction is due to finish in the summer of 2022. Once open we will provide a wide range of social welfare services , sports and activities aimed at improving health and reducing poverty and isolation.
