FibreLab is a pioneering textile recycling service that transforms end-of-life textile waste from businesses across London into high-value materials. Using custom-built recycling machinery, we sort, shred, and process textile waste, including garment off-cuts and damaged linens, into new products like PaperTex, made from 100% recycled textiles. Our hyper-local approach reduces carbon emissions by keeping all processing domestic, diverting waste from landfills and conserving resources. We also focus on research and prototyping new materials, empowering communities in the Global South impacted by waste colonisation. Through workshops, studio tours, and open-access events, we educate the public and provide access to circular design practices. Our goal is to scale our impact by empowering communities to establish their own FibreLab hubs in cities across the world, bringing the hyper-local, global.
