Brixham Gig Rowing Club

Who we are

Description

We are a community based rowing club situated in Brixham, Devon, who row traditional Cornish Pilot Gig boats. Members row recreationally & also competitively, taking part in regattas in Devon, Cornwall & Dorset. We also enter crews in the annual World Championships that take part on the Isles of Scilly. We have around 120 adult members and 20 junior members. We currently operate out of a Gig Shed located on the slipway near Brixham Breakwater, which was built by club members approximately 4 years ago. The Shed houses 3 training boats & 2 hand-built wooden racing boats. It also house all our equipment plus 6 rowing machines where members can maintain and build their fitness. The club is ran by a committee consisting of 14 volunteers and is set up as a Community Amateur Sports Club. Apart from rowing, we are active in the community, regularly undertake clean ups of our area, support local events and raise funds for charity.
