The Gatton Trust Ltd
Who we are
Description
Gatton Park is a 250 acre historic landscape which lies within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty. It comprises parkland, gardens, lakes and woodland and welcomes approximately 17,000 visitors each year. Many of these visitors take part in educational activities either on school visits, as part of family-learning activities or as part of special projects aimed to support visitors with specific needs. These projects involve children as young as 2 years and adults up to 101 years! The stunning parkland landscape of Gatton Park was designed by England’s foremost landscape designer Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in the eighteenth century. Later owner Jeremiah Colman (of the mustard family) added gardens like the Japanese Garden, Old World Garden and Rock and Water Garden. We have 130 volunteers who carry out most of the work of the trust, supported by a small staff.
