Fund details & criteria

Fund purpose

The Doncaster Environment Fund, established in 2019, has donated over £80,000 to local community groups and charities. The fund focuses on projects that make a visible difference to improve green spaces, support local wildlife, reduce waste, or help people take better care of their local environment. Organisations can apply for grants of up to £1,000, with a total £5,000 available. In all cases the fund should support the project or activity directly through obtaining or purchasing equipment and supplies or towards training for the delivery of the projects. The fund will not be made available to applications primarily aimed at reducing operating costs or aimed at individuals, the purchasing of land and/or vehicles and buildings. All applicants will need to be formally constituted and must be not-for-profit organisations within the City of Doncaster Council area. Projects that match the Doncaster Environment Fund criteria will be shortlisted and then reviewed by representatives from SUEZ who will award the funds. Applications are open to not-for-profit organisations, community groups and schools working within Doncaster. Projects should be ready to deliver and capable of being completed within around six months. As part of its waste management responsibilities in the Doncaster borough, SUEZ collects small electrical items at the kerbside. The proceeds from these collections contribute to the environment fund, enabling the company to reinvest in community projects. The greater the volume of items collected, the more resources are available to support local initiatives. About SUEZ in Doncaster SUEZ provides waste and recycling collections on behalf of City of Doncaster Council which covers collections from over 150,000 homes and businesses. We believe that sustainability is the only business case – for our company, and ultimately, for the Earth, economy and everyone. We measure and report our performance against this triple test of people, planet and profit.
