Fund purpose
The Hill Group is working in collaboration with Brent Council and Sovereign Network Group (SNG) to develop 125 new affordable homes for the Watling Gardens community in the Cricklewood/Kilburn area. As part of our investment in this community, we have set up the Watling Gardens Community Grant which will contribute towards the improvement of the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the area. This grant launched in 2023 and this is now the third round of grant funding. We welcome community groups, registered charities and social enterprises to apply for funding for projects that they would like to see delivered. The value of each project application may vary so there will be no fixed amount per project. Criteria: • PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE BASED IN OR OPERATE WITHIN THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BRENT. Applications should demonstrate a clear benefit for Brent residents and should be available for Watling Gardens estate residents to participate. Assistance will be provided to support direct communication with the Watling Gardens residents. Successful projects will be required to promote project updates in the bimonthly Watling Gardens newsletter (maximum 4 updates) and occasionally attend resident meetings (maximum 2 meetings). • The projects funded through this community grant should support at least one of the borough’s five priority areas: 1. Strong foundations 2. Every opportunity to succeed 3. A future built for everyone, an economy fit for all 4. A cleaner, more considerate Brent 5. A borough where we can all feel safe • Projects should be delivered between March – August 2025. • If applicant received funding in the 2023/24 funding rounds and wishes to apply again for 2025, please include details about how the grant has benefitted the community (ideally include testimonials). • If projects involve working with children or vulnerable adults, applicants must ensure that they have the appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures and a safer recruitment policy in place and be willing to provide evidence of these. Application process: The grant will be open for applications from 15th January - 14th February. Applications will be reviewed by a panel (Hill Group, Brent Council and SNG) at the end of February and scored based on their relevance for the Watling Gardens community and to Brent’s priority areas. Applicants will then be notified of the outcome in late February.
