At Thames Water we want to be able to contribute to society while delivering life’s essential service. We are proud to be a part of the communities we serve because protecting the environment, enriching lives and helping those who need it most is at the heart of our business. That's why we've partnered with Backyard Nature to launch this fund to support projects driving nature activities for young people in areas served by Thames Water! This fund is offering £500-£2,000 grants, particularly aimed at those supporting families in areas of high deprivation to reduce the barriers around spending time outside in nature. We want to support you to get the basic resources and kit to engage local communities now and for the long term. Your community might want to start an edible garden, or a welly bank, or even kayak litter-picks. The choice is yours as long as the output and impact fits in the following criteria: - A resilient and connected environment - Social mobility and skills - Water for well-being and enjoyment - Increasing water and wastewater awareness As part of this fund, Backyard Nature will also offer time and support including workshops and activities to make nature inclusive, accessible, connected and - where relevant- youth led. ~~~~~ Applying for funding on ActionFunder is a bit different. Here’s the process: sign up, register your organisation and post a project you want funding for. Your project will automatically match with any funds you meet the criteria for (grant amount, location, focus area). If you want to apply for this fund, make sure your project meets the criteria. Your project will remain live on the platform (ready to match with new funds) until you successfully win funding. ActionFunder’s all about saving you time so that you can get on with what matters: community action. Thames Water does not accept applications from Local Authorities, Private Owners, Government funded bodies or large non-profit organisations. We also won’t fund essential operational costs; projects outside of the Thames Water service/supply area; salary costs; business plans/reviews or projects that cannot demonstrate measurable outcomes.
