Fund purpose

Clarion Futures Summer Activities Grant Research has shown that the school holidays can be pressure points for some families. For some children that can lead to a holiday experience gap. Children from low-income households are: • less likely to access organised out-of-school activities • more likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health • more likely to experience social isolation. Clarion Futures Summer activities fund is a response to this issue. Evidence shows that free holiday activities can have a positive impact on children and young people. They work best when they: • provide consistent and easily accessible enrichment activities • cover more than just breakfast or lunch • involve children and parents in food preparation • use local partnerships and connections, particularly with the VCSO sector. We are looking to fund projects and activities that focus on young people, between the ages of 11-18 years, living in Clarion Stock areas and communities, and that: • Maximise opportunities for young people • Develop young peoples confidence and leadership • Engage young people in positive activities • Improve the perception of young people. Projects should be completed by the start of the Autumn school term in September 2024. Successful applicants will be required to complete and return a project monitoring form along with a case study (with images where possible) by 30 September 2024. Clarion Futures Community Investment Officers may require to visit projects being run by successful applicants.
