Fund details & criteria
Fund purpose
Wates is proud to launch the BCAP Community Fund, providing £15,000 of grant funding to support community-led projects that create lasting benefits for Black communities across Brent. The fund has been established to support the ambitions of Brent's Black Community Action Plan (BCAP) and will invest in initiatives that help tackle inequality, strengthen communities, and improve opportunities for local residents. We are looking to support organisations, community groups, charities, resident-led initiatives, and social enterprises that are making a positive difference within Brent. Successful projects must demonstrate how they contribute to one or more of Brent's key priority areas. Applications should align with at least one of the following themes: 1. Early Intervention for Children and Young People • Activities that support young people's education, wellbeing, confidence, aspirations, or personal development. • Programmes that provide mentoring, life skills, youth engagement, or positive activities outside of school. 2. Tackling Health Inequalities • Projects that improve physical or mental health outcomes. • Initiatives that increase access to wellbeing services, healthy lifestyles, community support networks, or healthcare awareness. 3. Developing Community Spaces Run and Managed by Local People • Projects that strengthen community ownership and use of local spaces. • Activities that bring residents together, increase community participation, and create welcoming and inclusive places. 4. Homes and Homelessness • Support for individuals and families facing housing challenges. • Projects that help prevent homelessness, improve housing stability, or provide practical support to vulnerable residents. 5. Employment and Enterprise • Programmes that improve employability, skills, training, entrepreneurship, or access to employment opportunities. • Initiatives that support local businesses, start-ups, and community enterprises to grow and thrive. We want to fund projects that: • Deliver clear and measurable benefits for Brent residents. • Empower Black communities and address local inequalities. • Are community-led or informed by local needs. • Promote inclusion, collaboration, and long-term positive change. • Leave a sustainable legacy beyond the funding period. Applications are welcome from Brent: • Registered charities • Community and voluntary organisations • Resident and neighbourhood groups • Social enterprises • Not-for-profit organisations
